CMAD funds early-stage design development. CMAD may fund initial design or graphic design fees when project leaders select a creative partner from a shortlist recommended by the CMAD Advisory Panel, helping move projects from concept to a clear design direction.
Application Process
Initial concept application from a nonprofit organization (or with a nonprofit as fiscal sponsor)
• Applications accepted on a rolling basis
CMAD board reviews applications and votes
For approved projects, CMAD refers to the Advisory Panel of professional artist & designers
CMAD Advisory Panel reviews application content and recommends artists & designers who fit the project brief
CMAD facilitates as a “matchmaker” between applicant and designer, supporting design development and creative fees
What type of projects we fund
Artists, designers, architects, and creative practitioners who propose projects that engage the Columbus community through visual art, design, architecture, or interdisciplinary practices. Projects may include 2D, 3D, multimedia, digital, environmental, or spatial work that expands public experience and dialogue around art and design.
Professional practitioners or collaborative teams who demonstrate the vision and capacity to successfully realize the proposed project. Cross-disciplinary collaborations between artists, designers, architects, and community partners are encouraged.
